Road Captains
High
Country Chapter Colorado #422's road captains will do
their best to ensure your riding enjoyment and safety when riding
in group rides. Generally the lead road captain will lead the
pack and set a safe riding speed and course for the group to follow.
They will maintain a steady and slow acceleration/deceleration
pace when leading a group. They realize that drastic changes in
speed, while this may be ok when riding alone, are a major safety
concern when riding in a pack. A Yo-Yo-ing effect often happens
when riders in a pack accelerate/decelerate at different speeds.
Speeding up and slowing down becomes magnified the larger the
pack becomes. This can be extremely hazardous, and definitely
decreases the riding enjoyment.
