2nd Annual April-Fools Day ride

April Fool's Day or All Fool's Day, is a holiday of uncertain origin, known for practical joking and celebrated on the first of April. The English gave April Fool's Day its first widespread celebration during the 18th century. Who cares? The way I look at it, it was a great excuse for an early season ride. See last year's pictures here.

Boulder Harley-Davidson Logo contest

Give us our 'swooosh', Nike has one, McDonald's does too. High Country HD has a great one. Now Boulder Harley-Davidson needs a logo! It's been over two years and we want an identity our very own. We need your help to design a logo befitting the location and the character of the store. And we are willing to pay you to get one.

A second place alternate gets $100 in-store credit.

We will also hold a series of consolation drawings for all non-winning entrants to give away five $20 gift cards and a T-shirt with the winning logo on it. And you needn't?t be an artist or industrial designer in order to win. We will have the design turned into formats for our use and refined to suit our needs. Sketches and other forms of entry are acceptable as long as they uniquely define your concept thoroughly.

Santa's Sleigh run 2005 - Lisa Fierer of SafeHouse writes: "High Country Harley Owner’s Group hosted the 11h Annual Santa’s Sleigh Run Toy Ride benefiting Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence. On December 3rd, 2005, over 100 riders participated for a frosty, yet festive ride from High Country Harley Davidson in Fredrick, Colorado, to the Moose Lodge in Longmont. This generous support helps Safehouse to offer much-needed services to victims of domestic abuse in Boulder and Broomfield Counties and to provide toys for children who may not have otherwise received gifts this holiday season.

Heartfelt thanks goes out to all of the organizers, participants, volunteers, and supporters of this event: ConAgra, La Mariposa Restaurant, Moose Lodge #1548 and Moose Lodge Bartenders, High Country H-D, Poplar Grove Care Center, Catfish Curly’s, Four Paws & Co., Main St. Tattoo, Knit One Purl Too, Brent Johnson, Le Peep, 3 Margarita’s, Nicolo’s Pizza, Pumphouse Brewery, Mead Café/Diehard Saloon, Chili’s Grill and Bar Louisville, CO, Ideal Industries, Pete’s Place, Integrated Safety Sys, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Chameleon 212, Old Sante Fe Mexican Grille."

2004 Newsletters are now online. The online newsletters now have a smaller size for very very fast download, even if you have a 56K dialup connection.

  Don't be left behind.

You may not be receiving US post office mailed copies of the High Country H.O.G. Chapter Newsletter after this month, if your 2004 dues have not been paid. We don't want to say goodbye, but we need to hear from you by April 15 to keep you on the membership list.

Maybe you think your dues don't need to be paid until later this year. Unfortunately, there has been some confusion around expiration dates. The Chapter membership year runs from January to December each year. So whether you join the club in January or November, your dues will be $15.00 (or $10.00 for the second member at the same address), and expire in December of that year.

There are lots of good things happening this year. Don't miss out! Send in your dues today. Don't be left behind. If you have any questions please:

Lee Hull, Our 2004 Chapter Photographer, says: "10 people rode today, from Longmont up around Carter Lake, up to Ft Collins, over to Timnath, down thru Windsor, Millikin, and Greeley back to the store in Frederick."

BEREAVEMENT NOTICE - Rick StewartRick Stewart passed away peacefully at 4:12 a.m. with his wife Kathleen at his side February 9, 2004 due to complications from cancer. A table with Rick's jacket and some of his photos has been set out at High Country. From the funeral: Rick loved his motorcycle more than anything. His special baby was his 95th anniversary model. He last rode it July 4th 2003. He was a chapter road captain and lastly in 2001 & 2002 he was the chapter photographer. His riding days started as a boy when his dad and he rode a Honda 125 from Denver to San Diego. They slept on picnic benches and roadside parks. Passing a big 18- wheeler he was indoctrinated to riding as a bee got in his helmet. This was not his last encounter with nature while riding.  Recently he rode to AZ to see his mother and this time without a helmet, Rick got so sun burned his eyes were swollen shut.  Rick was a quiet man but his stature stood out.

Many times he would be noticeably absent from chapter events. Well, until we would be on our way as a group and somewhere along the way there would be Rick, at the perfect vantage point, taking pictures for the chapter of the procession of bikes.
