HOG ABC's of Touring Contest

Here's how it works: After you enroll in the program, keep a camera and a copy of a current issue of Hog Tales® or Enthusiast® magazine with your bike. Then, you can earn points by submitting photographs of you and your Harley® in front of official signs while holding a current copy of one of the magazines.

2008 High Country HOG Chapter ABCs
We want this to be a big deal for the chapter....large numbers get the attention of everyone. We are all excited that the dealership is really taking an interest in what we are doing and it's the numbers that will continue to impress and in the end....benefit us all. It is my vision that this year we can sucessfully do the national ABC's and see a lot of our chapter be rewarded.

He has agreed to provide the web site with pictures, updates, trials and tribulations on his 2005, 2006 and 2007 ABCs of Touring contest quest. High Country HOG Chapter is proud to help each of its members enjoy motorcycling and have more fun. Lets cheer Greg on!

Greg's Ride log: Reports and lessons-learned along the way
Greg writes: "A couple of things I have learned so far about doing the ABCs is that while it is designed to get people to explore, most people just like to ride and not stop at every possible location to get a picture to check off the ABCs. So I usually end up going by myself. I’ve also learned to bring along several wooden clothes pins to keep the pages from blowing open in slight breezes. I also have a zip lock bag to put “Hog Tails” in just incase it is raining." Read more in the following links.

National HOG's ABCs Touring Contest
Is there a town or county near you that begins with the letter "X"? If so, you already have a leg up in this annual battle of alphabet chasers, where points for the 24th letter are hard to come by.

Actually, "battle" is much too strong a word for this popular, friendly competition; providing motivation to ride to new or out-of-the-way places is what this program is really all about.

Here's how it works: After you enroll in the program, keep a camera and a copy of a current issue of Hog Tales® or Enthusiast® magazine with your bike. Then, you can earn points by submitting photographs of you and your Harley® (or your H.O.G.® Fly & Ride rental bike) in front of official signs while holding a current copy of one of the magazines. The idea is to visit cities and counties beginning with as many different letters of the alphabet – and as many states and provinces – as possible. There are other ways to earn points, too, such as by attending State, National, or International Rallies, visiting national parks or forests, Harley-Davidson facilities, etc.

At the end of the year, we reward the highest point totals with great prizes and 15 minutes of fame (top winners are listed in Hog Tales magazine and featured here on this Web site). You can also earn awards just for reaching certain point levels. But when all is said and done, it's not a matter of whether you win or lose (besides, how can you lose?), it's how you play the game: by touring the country on a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle.
