July 26 High Country Ladies of Harley 5th Annual Ride to Buena
Vista
We had a great ride to Buena Vista, the weather was perfect,
the roads were good & the traffic wasn't bad. When we arrived at
the KOA we all unpacked and headed down to the Coyote Cantina for some
cocktails & great Mexican food. After that we went back to camp
to sit around and share some stories. That's when it began to rain;
we all crowded around Carl & Mandy's cabin on the porch to try &
stay warm, and wait for the rain to stop. It was a nice warm rain but
not good because we couldn?t have a campfire because of it. When it
came time to cook our brats & hot dogs it was still raining so Kirk
went to the office and talked to the manager. The KOA manager gave us
permission to use the cook shack, it was perfect, and it has a large
picnic area with a roof and a grill we used to cook our supper for the
night. In spite of the weather we all had a great time. |
The next morning we all had breakfast back at the cook shack &
packed up & got ready for our trip home. We went through Leadville
& down through Minturn, it was a beautiful ride. After we got on
I-70 we lost some of the riders. Carl's cover of his saddle bag had
blown off and a few had stopped to picked it up, it only had a few scratches
with a little TLC it will be ready for another trip. On our way down
the mountain we stopped at Kermit's for lunch before we headed home.
Another great ride with great friends!!
