Pictures On the Ride.
Pictures by Lee Hull - 2004 HOG chapter photographer.
The annual Pawnee Buttes Ride was on May 22nd this year, we had approx 20 bikes this year. Fred Kreider, led the ride, we had lots of road captains to monitor the ride and help keep everyone together. The weather pulled a typical Colorado surprise, clear and cool on the ride up Hwy 85 to Briggsdale and over to Grover for lunch, when everyone finished lunch and got ready to saddle up to ride on over to Pawnee Buttes, the weather station warned of Tornado's, and severe thunderstorms with 3" diameter hail in the area.
Everyone elected to wait out the storm, bikes were pulled under the awning of the restaurant, under trees, and wherever they could find to protect them. Some played cards to fill the time, others enjoyed chit chatting, the storm blew through. After a quick stop in Briggsdale for gas (only one place in Grover has gas and it wasn't delivered that week) we headed back to town.
