1st Annual April Fools Day Ride - 2006

April Fool's Day or All Fool's Day, is a holiday of uncertain origin, known for practical joking and celebrated on the first of April. The English gave April Fool's Day its first widespread celebration during the 18th century. Who cares? The way I look at it, it was a great excuse for an early season ride. The morning was gray and cloudy, I wondered if this was going to be a hit or a miss. We signed up and drew our first cards at the Boulder dealership. As we all know HOG Chapter 422 knows how to ride. By the time we had kickstands up we were 45 bikes strong and heading for the Outlaw Saloon. After a beverage or two, and another card draw we were off to the Windjammer. A short stay and a quick pick of more cards and we headed for the Derby grill in Berthoud. Weather is still holding out, we have begun to shed a few layers. Some of us enjoyed lunch at the derby while others elected another draw and off to Helmets for the final card. The rain held off until almost every bike was safely in the garages. The top three poker hands were paid along with one unlucky fellow who just could not catch a break. Thanks for attending and I look forward to celebrating this overlooked holiday next year at the 2nd annual April Fools day ride. Click here to see the ride's route.
