High Country Chapter Colorado #422 Charities
High
Country Chapter Colorado members have always supported
charities in the local area. Whether it's Franks Ride for Children
(Make-a-Wish), or the 911 United Rides, or the Veterans (DAV)
ride, or Santa's Sleigh run, the members are generous and supportive,
year after year.

United
We Ride - 'Freedom Ride'
High Country Chapter Colorado #422 was one of the key organizing HOG
Chapters in the Disaster Relief fund raising event for NYC that was
held in Denver on Oct. 21st, 2001. It was estimated that 4000-5000 motorcycles
participates in the $39,000 fund raising event that roared out of the
Coors Field parking lot and circled Denver to show a United support
of the NYC & Pentagon victims. High Country Chapter Colorado #422
Director Dave Przygocki was instrumental
in the organization and success of the fund raiser.
Approximately
a dozen dedicated High Country Chapter Colorado #422 members, including
this webmaster, left Longmont before 6am to volunteer at the event doing
sign ups and registrations for the 4000+ participants. Arriving at Coors
field at 7am, these dozen or so volunteers, began setting up tables,
helping prepare for the registration, giving out release forms and taking
donations (fees). Fort Collins, Cheyenne, and Greeley HOG chapters meet
at the shop at 8am to parade to Coors field in a group approximately
300 strong. This picture shows DaveP leading High Country HOG members
into Coors Field to the registration point for the ride.
Hagar,

to organize anniversary rides for the next 2 years. This event
is by far the largest fund raiser that High Country HOG members
have orchestrated.

Organizer Dave Przycocki said he was inspired to coordinate the event
after taking part in last fall's nationwide United Ride, which benefited
Sept. 11 victims in New York. After seeing riders from all over the
state unite for the October ride, Przycocki said he wanted to bring
everyone together for a Colorado cause.
"Everything we did (last year) went back to New York City,"
Przycocki said. "We wanted to do something local to help out the
charities in Colorado."

Frank's Ride - for Children (Make-a-Wish)
High Country Chapter Colorado #422 has a history of volunteering and
participating in Franks' Ride. "Frank's Ride for Children benefits
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado and helps to grant wishes to Colorado
children fighting life-threatening illnesses. It is a 100+ mile poker
run and winds through some of Colorado's most beautiful scenery. The
kids we sponsor participate in our run ? riding in our motorcycle sidecars!
They and their families have a lot of fun and really enjoy seeing all
the motorcycles and vehicles that show up to support them. Cost is $20.00
per person (Adults 18 & over) and $5.00 for children (ages 12 to
18). This donation entitles participants to one poker hand (Adults 18
& over) ? as well as, live entertainment and a BBQ pork/beef roast
at the final stop. All proceeds raised by this event go directly to
the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado." More information can be

An update on the 2002 Frank's Ride
1,200 riders took to the streets of Longmont for a parade route through
town before riding about 100 miles in mostly Boulder and Weld counties.
The weather was superb and $30,000 was raised by this dedicated staff
for Make-A-Wish of Colorado. I saw many, many High Country chapter members
there and many were responsible for pre-event and behind the scene tasks
contributing to this years success. Both the number of participants
and the proceeds raised are new record highs.
Many members of the High Country Chapter Colorado #422 volunteered
and helped make the ride a success. Congratulations on a job well done!
2005 ride information can be found here.

LOH Women's coalition
For years and years, High Country Chapter Colorado #422's Ladies of
Harley have a long history of charitable donations to the Longmont Women's
Coalition. Whether its a $200,00 in necessary 'daily need' items raised
with money from bake sales at the 'Shop', or is much more, the women
of High Country HOG LOH have continually demonstrated their care and
giving nature.
In 2003, High Country Chapter Colorado #422's own Ladies of Harley
(LOH) raised over $350.00 through bake sales and collecting donations.
Way to go Ladies!
Mountain States Children's Home
In
coordination with ABATE district 13, High Country Chapter Colorado
#422 members gave and gave to the teenage children at the Mountain
States Children's Home. Year after year the members came out on
a cold winter day for the kids, donating toys for the teenagers,
and having a great meal, provided by ABATE district 13. Then the
members would ride to Mountain States Children's home to have a
christmas party with the kids. Playing game, eating cake, and giving
the kids a ride on a Harley. I can personally say that the parties
at the home were very rewarding to me. |
